What we do
Leeds DEC raises awareness of international development
issues through a range of activities:
Resources
Leeds DEC provides resources for teachers and youth
workers that raise young people's awareness of international
development issues. In our premises on Roundhay Road
there is a resource centre where a wide range of publications
are available for purchase or loan.
Training
The Centre can also provide training for teachers
and youth workers on a wide range of global issues,
the use of development education methodology and the
use of development education publications.
Projects
Leeds DEC is always seeking new ways to raise awareness
of international issues using the active learning
approaches that are fundamental to development education
methodology. The Centre is continually working with
local and international partners to develop new project
ideas and secure grants for their implementation.
Publications
Over the past 15 years the Centre's curriculum development
projects have led to the publication of over 40 resources
for teachers and youth workers. These resources have
been promoted and disseminated, locally, nationally
and internationally, by Leeds DEC.
