Training

History: Leeds DEC has always offered development education training, largely within the formal sector and at all levels. There are primary, secondary and tertiary specialists on the staff of the DEC.

Recently, funding from the Environmental Action Fund has enabled us to offer free training packages, and we also have experience working in partnership with education advisors, with other voluntary sector groups and with youth and community workers, as well as in Initial Teacher Education.

Purpose:

To explore development issues and provide innovative approaches to sensitive issues.

To provide a quality training service which spreads good practice, raises awareness of development education opportunities and promotes resources to training beneficiaries.

To promote Leeds DEC as a training provider and raise its profile in Leeds and West Yorkshire

The range of training offered includes:

anti-racism

circle time

Citizenship

Development Education methodology

Equal Opportunities, diversity

Gender awareness

Global footprints

Global Youth work
