Years & KS1
A non-fiction big book giving children an insight
into the lives of a family in Wajir, northern Kenya.
Each page contains a section of the story in the style
of ‘This is the House that Jack Built’,

A beautifully photographed and illustrated book telling
the real-life story of Shompa and her family who live
in small town near Calcutta. Different aspects of
their everyday life are covered including their Hindu

Footprints in the Forest: a Chembakolli story
KS2
A beautifully illustrated big book, set in the village
of Chembakolli in southern India, that fulfils the
literacy hour requirements to study stories from other
cultures and stories that raise issues. It follows
Kelu’s adventures in the forest as she collects
flowers for the village festival. Teacher’ information
and activities and a glossary are included in the

Kosovan Journeys KS2
A first person account by two refugee children from
Kosova. They talk about their lives, their families,
their reasons for leaving Kosova and their hopes for

Play on the Line – all children have
the right to play KS1-2
An imaginative and colourful book on the Right to
Play. The text is accompanied by photos with words
and pictures contributed by young people from Tower
Hamlets, London and Western Saharan Refugee camps
in Algeria. As well as raising issues of why play
is important, Play on the Line also looks at what
prevents children from playing and encourages children

The Long Long Journey KS1
A similar book to The Swallow Tale following the migration
of European Swallows, but for a younger age group.
Acts as a guide to many different landscapes –
farmland, wetland, mountain, sea, desert and rainforest
and looks at the challenges faced by the swallows
and the people living there. Includes notes for teachers.
