MDG 15 - Making a Positive Contribution

Overview of the Project

MDG 15 is a collaboration between seven partner countries aiming to raise secondary schools’ awareness about the Millennium Development Goals. The project, led by Le Partenariat ( Lille ) with Leeds DEC and Studio Globo ( Belgium ) also involves NGOs in India , Czech , Poland & Senegal. By offering more and better information and training to secondary students and their teachers the project seeks to make a contribution to the achievement of the MDGs.

Description of the Project

Various activities are organised for and by students and teachers, with the MDGs as central theme. LDEC has organised an International MDGs Seminar in Ghent for participating schools from all countries, designed and delivered a series of MDG workshops in schools, and participated in an International MDG conference in Slovakia . The project also proposed and helped organise a YHGSA Regional conference focusing on the goals, a seminar for teachers and several other events. Over the next year we will continue to publicise the goals, deliver workshops (particularly to 6th Forms), organise a study tour for teachers to Senegal and support young people in taking action in support of the goals.

  • To contribute to achieving the MDGs by offering young persons and their teachers more and better training and information regarding the MDGs.
  • Heightening awareness of current progressions and shortfalls in development, thereby encouraging reflection upon the UN's promises and the methods available for their fulfilment.
  • To create a socially broad base for the MDGs and encourage individual social action, such as applying pressure on politicians and communities.
  • To encourage action towards and a demand for the realisation of the MDGs by 2015!
