It is an act of justice.”

Our fun and participatory programmes will enable students (aged 14 to 19) to:

                                                                                  - Think critically

                                                                                                      - Express informed opinions

                                                                                            - Take effective action

We can offer a choice of four programmes

1. Health, Poverty and Wealth

The interactive and informative workshops featured in this day use material collected from a recent study visit to Senegal. Activities include a fun role play on mosquitoes being killed by ‘Supanet’ and testimonies from Senegalese street children.

2. United Nations Summit Simulation

Students are divided into 14 groups to play the roles of country governments, NGOs (non governmental organisations), businesses and the media.  They are offered the chance to successfully implement one of the eight Millennium Development Goals, but which should it be?  Through lobbying, negotiation and debate they must decide which one has priority.  At the end of the day the governments meet to vote, and the press records the day’s events.

3. Slumdog Survivor role play

Students have the opportunity to build their own slum dwellings in the school environment and experience some of the challenges faced by people living in slums for this half day activity. By having the opportunity to empathise with those for whom this is a daily reality, students will be challenged to explore their personal and moral response to social injustice and to initiate ways of making a difference in the wider world.

4. Taking Effective Action

This workshop will enable students to plan and deliver successful actions on Global Citizenship issues and contribute their ideas to the MDG 15 International Schools Contest featured on www.mdg15.net

Peer Educators: As part of these programmes we can train and brief Peer Educators so they can play an active role on the day.

We can also deliver shorter workshops/ programmes if required.
